at Blind Bay
2404 CENTENNIAL DRIVE, BLIND BAY, BRITISH COLUMBIA

GolfNorth Properties, Canada’s largest golf course consolidator, has entered into a long-term agreement to lease Shuswap Lake Golf Course at Blind Bay, a popular golf property in British Columbia’s gorgeous Shuswap Region. Conveniently located next to the Trans Canada Highway, and adjacent to the community of Blind Bay, the course winds through the rolling terrain between the hills and Shuswap Lake—providing golfers with 18 championship golf holes and friendly surroundings.

The property boasts a fascinating history: In July 1, 1977, the first nine holes opened with two sheds and a deck for the first pro-shop. Bud Loftus became the golf professional, and rumour has it, that his wife Pidge did a little bootlegging from this rustic and make-shift pro-shop. In April of 1979, the restaurant and pro-shop opened in its present location and a driving range was added.

As golf demand, and the popularity of the golf course, continued to grow—more land was purchased, and another nine holes were added (opening in the latter part of March 1993). Norm Woods, a builder of over 250 courses throughout the world, was hired for the final touches of the first nine holes, and Warren Radomsky, who did much of the designing and finishing touches for Les Furber, was hired to build the second nine. Shuswap Lake Estates now had a Championship 18-hole Golf Course.

Shuswap Lake offers members and public players a traditional interior BC style golf experience that can be enjoyed by walking or riding. Generous fairways, well-bunkered undulating greens, four water features and three different tee boxes make this course an absolute joy to play. The course is known for its conditioning, as well as an atmosphere that makes the golfing experience enjoyable for all levels of golfers.

In addition, the culinary team at Duffer’s Grill & Lounge presents a delicious dining menu with daily specials and a beer & wine selection and will make eating at the course and enjoying a refreshing beverage a perfect way to finish your round.

With this addition, GolfNorth operates three golf properties in the Shuswap Region. Salmon Arm Golf Club, a half hour drive from Blind Bay, and MaraHills Golf Resort, a further 20 minutes east on the Trans Canada Highway, providing golfers with three top quality golfing options. All existing memberships will be honoured, and depending upon membership level, some will have access to all three courses, while others will be offered a 25% discount on green fees at the other two. Upgrades will be available to those who desire them. Details will be available at golfnorth.ca in the coming weeks.

GolfNorth President Shawn Evans is excited about the addition of Shuswap Lake Golf Course to the GolfNorth portfolio,

“We are thrilled to be expanding in the Shuswap area of British Columbia. We wish to extend a warm welcome, and thank current owners, Ian Morrison & Karyn Bruschinsky, for all their cooperation and hard work in putting this transaction together. We’re honoured that they have given us the opportunity to be the stewards of Shuswap Lake Golf Course for years to come.”

With Shuswap Lake, Salmon Arm, and MaraHills all operating under one umbrella, it’s tough to imagine a better situation for golfers in the Shuswap Valley.
